Dr. Xiaofeng Guo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Washington State University. His expertise is in nuclear material, materials chemistry, thermodynamics of solid state and nano-scale materials. Guo’s research lies in the integration of structural investigation and thermodynamic study of synthetic and natural material systems. His current research focuses include: i) thermodynamics of lanthanides, actinides-containing phases, nuclear fuels and wastes; ii) nanosized materials in the nuclear technology application; iii) actinide-containing minerals crystallization and speciation under hydrothermal conditions; and iv) the behaviors of materials under various temperature-pressure conditions. He has expertise in high pressure, variable temperature neutron and synchrotron X-ray spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and various calorimetric techniques. Guo earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis in 2014. He was a G. T. Seaborg postdoctoral fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory National Laboratory from 2015 to 2017.
