My Goldschmidt

Role functions

Details for: UQAC Mathieu

I attained the position of associate professor at UQAC in 2017 as part of the Metal Earth project. My research aims to evaluate the distribution of precious and base metals in Archean magmatic systems to: 1) gain insights into the conditions (physicochemical parameters) that controlled metal transport and concentrations; 2) relate magma petrogenesis to ancient geodynamic processes; and 3) provide a scientific basis for exploration programs that are focused on magmatic-hydrothermal systems. This research program focuses on the trace element, metal, and volatile contents of differentiated magmas. These parameters are evaluated using the chemistry of amphibole, zircon, and apatite, which are to become part of a new generation of petrogenetic tracers of the fertility of magmatic systems. This research program integrates two important geoscience disciplines, economic geology and igneous petrology.
