Hi, could give a little bit of background on why the pCO2 has such a great importance on the S cycle?
The carbon cycle has direct and indirect impacts on the sulfur cycle. Most importantly, high atmospheric pCO2 levels (and warm/hot climate) result in a remarkable rise in atmospheric O2 (by accelerating C and P cycles), which enhances the oxidative weathering of pyrite on land and leads to the SO4 buildup in the ocean. To explain the remarkable negative excursion of d34S of pyrite, our model requires very strong perturbation (i.e., remarkable oxygenation of the ocean-atmosphere caused by very high atmospheric CO2 of >0.2 bar). Thanks!
