Hi Wei, some element ratios of bulk rocks might be noisy. Did you try to measure these ratios using fossils, such as bivalve shells? Could this be a better choice? Thanks.

Complementary: In our recent reconstructions of lake level changes in the Bohai Bay Basin, lake level changes of the Shahejie Fm. were in phase with sea-level changes. See Wang et al., 2020. This is consistent with your conclusion of frequent sea-level intrusions during the Paleogene.
